THE SPORTIVE MOSCOWThe autumn harvested many events. On September 14-18, 1999 the First Moscow Championship in dressage among the Disabled was held at the Central Moscow Hippodrome's ridding hall. This Competitions (an individual team championship) were held according to the rules of the International Parolympic Committee in the Equestrian Sport (I.P.E.C.) of the 1998. Four teams took part.
The Championship's organisers were the Moscow Federation of Physical Culture and Sport for the Disabled and the Children Ecological Centre The Living Thread. The horses were provided by the organisers of the Championship. The sportsmen were to draw them.
The first places in their subgroups were taken by Elena Mironova (The Living Thread-2, rode Timur) Maria Zagorskaia (The Moscow Riding Club for the Disabled, rode Fasa);
Due to the support of our sponsors, to whom we express our deep gratitude, there were given prizes and awards on the Ceremony of Honours. As the Competition was over the Casino Royal granted the participants with a excellent cold table. Our sportive live continued and on October 1-3 1999 the next competitions were held at the Central Moscow Hippodrome's ridding hall. That was the 1st Championship of the Moscow city in the Equestrian sport on behalf of the Special Olympics programme. It was qualifying rounds for the All-Russia Championship which then took place in October 18-22, 1999 in Yoshkar-Ola. (The very first Championship in behalf of the Special Olympics has been held in 1996 by The Children Ecological Centre (CEC) The Living Thread in the co-operation with the Russian Committee of The Special Olympic Games in Moscow) This time the competitions were organised by the CEC the Living Thread and the Moscow Committee of the Special Olympic Competitions. There were 9 sportsmen and three teams. The winner was Sergei Strijzacoff (COSD "Geront", rode Datzing), Zuravleva Veronica took the second place The Moscow Riding Club for the Disabled, rode Hoper); Karpova Nadejda took the third place (CEC The Living Thread, rode Trenchik). The competition among teams gave the following results:
Three prizewinners went to the Championship of Russia together with Kandreshov Stanislav and Fedin Alexei (both from the CEC The Living Thread). Nadia Karpova won one of the golden medals and got the right to participate in the European Championship which is going to take place in May next year in Holland.
